An airlock.
An airlock is a structure that allows the player to dock onto a derelict.
Airlocks appear as yellow doors, which can be opened and closed using the open a# and close a# commands, respectively, with "#" representing the number of the airlock. They can also be toggled between open and closed with a#. The player can also connect their docking bay to another airlock with the dock command.
An airlock must be powered in order for the player to be able to open or close it, via a power inlet, the Remote Power upgrade, or by being docked at one.
If an airlock is opened while not connected to the player's docking ship, the room it's in will immediately be depressurized and fill with vacuum, with radiation following after 8-10 seconds if it's not closed by then.
Rooms filled with vacuum will vent any infestations, resources, and drones in that room out into space. Certain structures in the room also have a chance to be destroyed.
On volatile derelicts (200+ days old), airlocks have a chance to start failing, and will eventually open on their own with no way to close them again, permanently filling the room they're in with vacuum and radiation. Airlocks can be re-stabilized if the player docks their docking ship to that airlock, but can start to fail again if the player docks to a different one. If an airlock fails precisely during the re-docking procedure to that airlock, it will still become inoperable although closed rather than opened.
Usage[]
You can control powered airlocks through the console with the following commands:
| Command | Effect if closed | Effect if open |
|---|---|---|
| a1 | Opens | Closes |
| toggle a1 | ||
| open a1 | Opens | No effect |
| close a1 | No effect | Closes |
Here, 'a1' can be replaced with whatever door(s)/airlock(s) you want to open or close.
