This article is about the act of depressurizing (a.k.a. "Venting" a room). For the structure, see Vent.

Vacuum

Vacuum filling a room through an open airlock.

Vacuum is an environmental hazard that completely fills rooms on a derelict that are exposed to space.

Vacuum will immediately fill a room when an airlock is opened without the docking bay attached, or when a room is hit by asteroids or the Cannon upgrade.

When vacuum fills a room, any enemies, items, and drones in that room will be vented out into space. Certain structures in the room also have a chance to be destroyed.

Vacuumed rooms will appear filled with yellow diagonal lines in the schematic view.

If there are any open doors in a vacuumed room, the adjoining rooms will also be progressively vented.

Vacuum will quickly dissipate from rooms once the source of the vacuum is closed off (open airlock, rooms hit by asteroids or Cannon).

If a room remains exposed to space for around 10 seconds, radiation will fill the room along with the vacuum.

When a room is vented, items and enemies are immediately destroyed. Drones, however, will slide towards the source of the vacuum at great speed. This can allow the player to vent a room (e.g. if Slime spawns in it) without destroying their drone.
